Blindness from cataract remains the primary cause of blindness in our world. Hence, we decided to dedicate our recent efforts towards curing blindness. In 2010-11, we worked with The Himalayan Cataract project towards restoring sight via cataract surgery in sub-Saharan Africa. With generous donations from supporters worldwide, we were able to raise the equivalent of $140,884. Advanced Vision Science Inc. and Santen Ltd. donated 2,687 intraocular lenses for this fantastic cause. In the same year, we summited the tallest peak in the African continent - Uhuru peak and significantly surpassed our goal. Our current target for 2012 is to raise $22,841 (equivalent to the height in feet of Aconcagua) in cash and in equipment/devices toward curing global blindness. The target summit is Mt. Aconcagua (tallest in South America) and target date is December 2012. This year, we partnered with SEE International to join their efforts in restoring sight worldwide. Advanced Vision Science Inc. and Santen Ltd. have joined us in this effort again and have already donated 394 intraocular lenses to SEE International.
